FISSION NUCLÉAIRE : "noyau mère" & "noyau fille"

  • 2021
  • Ceramic and glaze, 1080°C
  • The fission of an atomic nucleus, i.e. the mother nucleus into a daughter nucleus, releases energy and produces heat. In contrast, the cell division of an embryo gives rise to two daughter cells that duplicate exponentially. The cells thus created carry the same genetic make-up. This force within the two nuclei is visualised in a plastic installation and becomes evident when held in the hand.

      Biography

Charlotte Payet was born in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) in 1993 and has been living in Luxembourg since she was 10 years old. After graduating from secondary school in the art department in Luxembourg, she started studying art to become a teacher in Bonn (A), where she obtained her Master's degree. She then decided to deepen her artistic research and continued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kiel (A) in the class of a sculptor and ceramist. She explored ceramics and discovered her interest in spatial surfaces.

      Artistic approach

Charlotte is interested in forces, energies between two poles, such as human relationships, chemical compositions or abstract perception. It is about the transparency between two things, which the human eye cannot grasp. In her work, she always tries to maintain the aesthetic link between two-dimensional colours and sculptural objects. A three-dimensional visualization allows her to capture the abstract energies in a playful way and to connect them to their own associations.

      Technique

Her preferred techniques are based on a connection between ceramics, the use of artificial plastic and the treatment of colours on the 'skin surface' created in three dimensions.
